Description of an ADCAThe main responsibilities of an Alcohol and Drug Counseling Aide (ADCA) include acquiring knowledge and experience in the performance of alcohol and drug counseling services, including but not limited to knowledge of ethical standards. An alcohol and drug counseling aide may facilitate individual and direct group counseling or assume other facilitation duties under supervision, and may supervise nonclinical activities. All work performed must be under the supervision of a certified clinical supervisor. Note: An alcohol and drug counseling aide may not engage in independent or private practice. All work associated with the apprenticeship may be conducted within an agency only. ADCA Work Settings and Populations Served
Hiring RequirementsA person applying as an ADCA must pass a criminal background check given by the employing agency. |
