Specialist – ISS
Description of an ISS
Homemaker—Individual Support Specialists (ISSs) primarily assist with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) task such as meal preparation, routine housework, grocery shopping, laundry, and other routine household tasks. Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is typically limited to incidental personal care tasks.
ISS Work Settings and Populations Served
- Works with older adults and adults with disabilities living in their own homes.
Hiring Requirements
An individual may not be employed as an ISS if they have certain criminal backgrounds or have substantiated finding of abuse or neglect or misappropriation of property of a client, patient, or resident that is listed on the Certified Nursing Assistant and Direct Care Worker Registry.
TRAINING
REQUIREMENTS
- There is no required standardized DHHS training or certification for this job title.
